Top Five Bookish Goals for 2018

Top 5 bookish goals for 2018

Guys! Can you believe it’s 2018?! Me neither – I feel like every year goes by faster and faster. I recently saw this post Chelsea over at The Suspense is Thrilling Me wrote about her top five goals for 2018 and thought it was a fantastic way to ring in the new year! Although 2017 was a great year of books, reading, and blogging for me, there are some things I’d like to change up or do differently for the upcoming year.

Here are my bookish goals for 2018:

section separatorRead at least 20 books I’ve purchased for myself but have not read yet

I own nearly 200 physical and e-books that I’ve bought for myself but haven’t gotten around to reading yet! Between all the hype and excitement around advance copies and fun titles that always seem to pop up in the library, my own personal library has continued to grow without me reading as much from it as I have in the past. This amounts to 1-2 books per month, which is entirely doable.dotted line separator

Finish the series I’ve started

This one’s pretty straightforward. I don’t want to keep putting off finishing series that I’m near completing and all the books are published. Particularly the Daniel Blackland trilogy and The Lunar Chronicles. And I’d also really like to read the third book in the Arkane series, Ark of Blood, and decide whether to continue with the later books or not.dotted line separator

Re-read some old favorites

Since buying the Harry Potter collection in paperback last April, these books have been calling my name! I’ve listened to the entire series on audiobook at least seven times but have yet to read a physical copy. I think it’s time. It’s also been over a decade since I’ve read the Chronicles of Narnia and I’d like to revisit them as well this year. Some other books that I keep eyeing on my shelf every time I pass by are And Then There Were None and the Bourne trilogy. That’s 20 books right there; we’ll see how far I can get!dotted line separator

Complete the Popsugar 2018 reading challenge

I found out about this reading challenge through the Goodreads group Suspenseful Clues and Thrilling Reviews and have decided to join in! Although I’ve seen plenty of reading challenges floating around in the past, I’ve never actually participated in any of them. But the prompts in this challenge seem like so much fun and doing it as a group will help to hold me accountable, so I’m excited for this one!dotted line separator

Branch out to write new types of posts

I’ve been reviewing books on this site since November 2015. With the exception of monthly wraps and the once a year top ten, I’ve only ever posted reviews. In the past few months, I’ve been toying with the idea of including other types of posts and thinking about what that might look like, but I didn’t really know where to start.

Most of my friends and family know I enjoy reading but don’t quite know the full extent of my love for books or even that I blog about them. But whenever someone finds out, they inevitably ask for a recommendation – either what my most recent favorite is, or what they should read based on their reading taste. And I thought, that’s a great idea! So, once a month (for now, at least), starting in February, I’ll be posting different types of book recommendations. I have some fun ideas in the works and am hoping you all like them too!

  1. Great goals! I definitely need to read some more of my own purchased books this year too! I like the PopSugar challenge but I just know I’d never keep to it! I have trouble creating my own TBR for each month, let alone following one someone else has created for me! πŸ˜›

  2. I love these goals! I really need to get around doing the first, too, since I have around… 400-ish physical unread books here. Whoops. and YESSSS to finishing series. I am SO bad at those, since I always end up forgetting about what happened in the first few books while waiting for sequels. D:

Awesome blog, by the way. I’ll look forward to those posting branch-out you’re talking about. New Bloglovin’ follower! ^_^

  3. Absolutely love your bookish goals, Nicole. I’m going to secretly try the “read 20 books I’ve purchased for myself” so I don’t feel too bad about failing it by 2019. πŸ˜› I also highly look forward to the recommendation posts you plan on doing. I always love to hear some nice recs, even if it only makes my crazy TBR heavier than ever! πŸ˜€
