August was a fantastic reading month! I was looking forward to all of the books I’d planned to pick up this month and wound up enjoying all of them. After getting ahead on my TBR back in July, it was great to actually read everything I wanted to this month and still have time to pick up other books just for fun. And three books I read this month got a full five out of five from me!
Ready to see what I read and reviewed?
Books I reviewed:
Not Her Daughter is one to check out if you like suspenseful women’s fiction and can suspend disbelief.
The Eden Conspiracy was my favorite book in The Liberty Box trilogy, with plenty of action, excitement, and intrigue.
The Phoenix Project wrapped up The Liberty Box trilogy well, tying up loose ends and bringing everything to a satisfactory conclusionThe 7 1/2 Deaths of Evelyn Hardcastle isn’t an easy read but it is a clever and original mystery that is absolutely entertaining.
A Wrinkle in Time was a layered story that worked on multiple levels (and the book did it far better than the movie). The Sky Drifter was a fun and intriguing young adult science fiction story about a student on a spacecraft academy.Leave No Trace was a story of love and loss that hit all the right notes for me.I wanted to like Select Few more than I did.
Books I read but haven’t reviewed:
The Power was a powerful and thought provoking piece of speculative fiction.
The Road Back to You was a great introduction to the Enneagram personality typing system.I reread Ready Player One after seeing the movie and enjoyed it just as much as the first time! The Marsh King’s Daughter was a wild and entertaining ride through a whole new world to me.
Internal Time offered interesting insight into sleeping patterns and biological clocks.
Other posts this month:
In my latest edition of Like this? Try that! I wanted to focus on books to try based on television shows. After perusing my list, I realized I had a ton of picks to offer for fans of Criminal Minds and decided to focus on that. If you like Criminal Minds, check out my selection of books you might like HERE.
On the stack for next month:
For September, I’m taking a break from reading review copies and focusing on reading books I already own that I’ve been dying to get to. First up is Harry Potter! I’ve listened to the series on audiobook many times but have not read them in print yet. And I’ve been itching to do so since purchasing a box set over a year ago, so this is the perfect time. After that, I’ll be picking reads entirely based on my current mood until the end of the month.
You will be hearing from me, though! I have a backlog of audiobook reviews I’ve scheduled out for the month, and I’ll be lurking around the blogosphere and my usual social media haunts.
Do you ever take time off reading review copies to focus on books you own? What are you reading or planning on reading next?
