“Nothing can save you now, Princess.”
How can anyone be tricked twice? Isn’t there even a saying about that? Zaria Fierce is determined to get things right this time and with the Drakeland Sword in her possession she’s ready to take on trolls, dragons, and whatever else may come… but first she and her friends are going to have to figure out just how much trouble they’re in at home.
The Zaria Fierce trilogy is a fun middle grade adventure with a great message. And Zaria Fierce and the Dragon Keeper’s Golden Shoes rounds it out perfectly!
“Evil would like nothing more than to be left alone, to be hidden from the world, to be able to spin its web of lies, and to convince everyone that it is the most powerful force around.”
Despite the rather long titles of these books, the writing within is not long winded in the least. It is both to the point and evocative, flowing well for easy reading. That, in addition to skillful plotting and fast pacing, made this an extremely enjoyable experience.
But there is more to this series than just fun reading. Zaria and her friends are realistic characters and I thoroughly appreciated the exploration of their friendship and growth as individuals and as a group. And it was a blast to feel right alongside them as they delved even deeper into the fantastical world they were introduced to in the first book.
Overall, I think the Zaria Fierce series deserves a lot more love! Although this is the last in the trilogy, it sets up possibilities for future books or spinoffs; there is actually a continuation with one of Zaria’s good friends as the main character. And I, for one, can’t wait to read more! Definitely recommended.
