May was a full month of fun plans and plenty of reading, and it flew by in the blink of an eye!
This was a great month of books for me. I enjoyed a variety of genres, from suspense and thrillers to science fiction and contemporary to historical fiction. With the exception of one book I decided to DNF for now, I wound up rating everything I read at least a three, and two books a full five out of five! You can’t really get much better than that.
Ready to see what I read and reviewed?
Books I reviewed:
Well written and compelling, it’s hard to believe Allegedly this was the author’s debut.
Beyond the World is a high stakes story speculating about other life in the universe that will probably appeal to fans of this niche genre.
The Last Book Party is a charming coming of age story that feels both timeless and nostalgic.
The River at Night was an entertaining if somewhat forgettable read.
One Little Secret was a strong thriller full of suspense and entertainment.
Despite my few issues, Labyrinth kept me entertained and engaged.
Books I read but haven’t reviewed:
Every Last Lie was a compelling slow burn character driven suspense.
I read Heaven’s Symphony along with the rest of the worship team at my church over the course of several weeks and found it to have plenty of great tidbits to take away.
I’ll Be Gone in the Dark was really well done, to the point where it has me creeped out, on edge, and constantly looking over my shoulder and I ultimately had to put it down for now.
Armada didn’t live up to Ready Player One but it was still a fun listening experience.
The Book Charmer was, in fact, quite charming.
A Window Opens was an enjoyable and easy audiobook to listen to.
The Escape Room wasn’t exactly realistic but it was highly entertaining.

On the stack for next month:
My June TBR seems to be split equally between mystery/thrillers and science fiction/fantasy. I’m looking forward to picking up a few books from my own shelf, along with some review copies and library books. I already technically started The Island – I was so excited to find that my library had a copy of it available so soon after it’s US publication date! I’m hoping that’s a sign this is going to be another great month of reading…
What are you reading or planning on reading next?
Well, sounds like May was a smashing success for you then. Hope June keeps up the momentum!

Wow, that’s an impressive list! I read closer to 2-4 books a month and feel pretty pleased with that. π You have some interesting titles here and I look forward to adding one or more to my #TBR list.

I’ve been putting down books left and right. In fact, I put down Fahrenheit 451 not too long ago. I do want to read that Michelle McNamara book, if only because she is the deceased wife of Patton Oswald and a fellow Notre Dame alumna.

What made you decide to put down Fahrenheit 451? Ha, I love your reason for wanting to read Iβll Be Gone in the Dark! I do really want to go back to that someday because I thought the portion I did read was very well done.
