July passed by in a complete blur! A lot of it was spent prepping for baby, and I’ve started slowing down, so it seemingly went by even faster than normal.
That being said, I still managed to complete a good number of books in July. All of them were solid reads and many warranted at least a four out of five rating. All in all, this may not have been the best reading month I’ve ever had but it was pretty satisfying all things considered.
Ready to see what I read and reviewed?
Books I reviewed:
Keeping Lucy was powerful, emotional, and heartbreaking.
Because You’re Mine wasn’t quite what I expected but it was entertaining and suspenseful.
As Long as We Both Shall Live started out strong from the first sentence and kept my attention to the end.
A legal thriller with a psychological twist, The Murder List was a riveting read.
The Warehouse was a well written and compelling dystopian thriller that left me thinking about it after each time I put it down.
Firstlife had a fascinating premise but was lacking execution. The Whisper Man is a serial killer thriller that combines police procedural with family dynamics for a compelling and layered read.
Books I read but haven’t reviewed:
I enjoyed Only Human but it didn’t live up to the first two books in the Themis Files trilogy.
There was a lot of filler in The Happiest Baby on the Block but it was a worthwhile skim. The premise for The Doll Factory was intriguing and the writing was solid but I simply couldn’t get into it. Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban was a fun comfort reread.

In 10 Enchanting Books About Books and Stories, I shared books about books that I’ve really enjoyed from a variety of genres. See the full post HERE.
On the stack for next month:
I have no idea what to expect for my August reading. I’ve heard some mothers of newborns say that they got more reading done than ever and others who say it was the most exhausting time in their lives and they couldn’t think of anything other than sleep. So. I have three review copies I’d like to get to before the end of the month, and have picked out three books from my own library I’ve been looking forward to and will read if I have the time and energy. I do have some posts scheduled out and will be checking in from time to time. We’ll see how this goes!
What are you reading or planning on reading next?
