July Reading Recap

july-reading-recap

July was a great month for reading and new releases! I managed to get ahead of my planned out schedule to give myself time to reread Qualify and Compete before starting the newly released Win, which I am super excited for! And everything I read this month I rated at least a three, and actually had two five star reads! *insert mike drop here*

So let’s see the list know, shall we?

June Reading Recap

june-reading-recap

June was a great reading month for me! My streak of reading an average of two books a week continues, which was easier this month when the craziness that was May came to an end. With a blend of ARCs, backlist books, a book versus movie, and even a little something outside of my regular reading, this was quite the combination of books! To top it off, more than 50% of them were four stars reads for me.

Without further ado, let’s see the list!

May Reading Recap

may-reading-recap

So my May reading didn’t exactly go as I anticipated. It started out on track, but then one ARC I had came out earlier than I thought it would, and I was surprised by another ARC from an author (not that I’m complaining!), and you know, life. Since I try to prioritize all the advance copies I get as much as possible, a few of my just for fun books got pushed back to June. Then a friend of a friend recommended a book so highly that they lent it to me, and I couldn’t very well put that off until the end of my list!

Without further ado, let’s just get into it!

April Reading Recap

April Reading Recap

When I first forayed into book blogging back in November of 2015, my original goal was to post a book review twice a month. Ha! That’s so funny to think of now, since in a rapidly accelerating cycle, the more I reviewed, the more and faster I read, which just led to more reviews, and so on. This past month I read and reviewed two books each week!

So, because I love lists and since I’ve seen many other book bloggers doing monthly recaps, I’ve decided to start doing so myself. Let’s just get into it, shall we?

2016: A Year in Review (and my top 10 favorite books read!)

2016 was a big year for me! Although I started first reviewing books on Goodreads last year and my first book related blog post went up in November 2015, this was my first full year of reviewing books.

Since starting this book blog I’ve learned a few things (about books and myself):

  • NetGalley. Edelweiss. Advanced Reader Copies. I didn’t know these things existed before! Seriously, my mind was blown.
  • It is decidedly more difficult and time consuming to write a coherent review than to simply turn to a friend and say, “You should read this!”
  • In making the effort to post reviews consistently, I’ve not only read nearly double the amount in 2016 than I have in the previous few years, I’m also able to retain more information about each book.
  • My TBR pile has also grown significantly; if it was a physical pile rather than a compilation of lists in Goodreads, I’m pretty sure it would be over 100 feet tall.

Anyway. Because I love lists, and yearly wrap ups of favorites seems to be the thing to do, I’ve compiled a list of my top 10 favorite books that I read in 2016. Ironically, this works out to be exactly 10 books that I rated a 5 out of 5, not including rereads. Here they are, in no particular order. (All covers will link to my reviews.)

Qualify, by Vera Nazarian

Compete, by Vera Nazarian

The Perfect Husband, by Lisa Gardner

The Art of Racing in the Rain, by Garth Stein
