Top 10 Best Books I Read in 2017

Top 10 Books I Read in 2017

As 2017 comes to a close, I thought I’d wrap up the year with a list of my top 10 favorite books! Just to be clear, these are not necessarily books that were published in 2017, but those that I read for the first time in 2017.

That being said, picking this list was SO tough this year! Last year, I conveniently had 10 books that I rated a five out of five (not including rereads), which worked out perfectly. This year, there were more than 10 books that I rated a five, but after some serious consideration, I managed to whittle the list down. These represent a wide range of genres from action to contemporary and mystery to science fiction, which I didn’t exactly plan but makes sense based on my broad reading tastes. Hopefully that means there’s something on here for everyone!

December Reading Wrap Up

December 2018 Reading Wrap Up

This is my favorite season of the year (the Christmas season, that is, NOT winter!), and as always, December was a full month of celebrating the holidays with family and friends! Even still, I managed to read 8 books (one of which was a short story), so I’m calling it a win for reading as well. For the most part I stuck with the TBR I set for myself, but one book just didn’t work for me, and I received two advance copies that just demanded to be read immediately. One of my reading goals for 2018 is to finish the series that I started this year but have yet to complete! Someone please hold me accountable.

October Reading Wrap Up

October Reading Wrap Up

My October reading was pretty on track with what I expected. I stayed pretty close to my TBR, only pushing back one book to make room for The Dry when my brain started demanding I listen to a new audiobook. Most of the books were good, with all of them rating at least a three, but the standout for me was Stories of Your Life and Others, which I’ve been eagerly anticipating since seeing Arrival.

September Reading Wrap Up

September Reading Wrap Up

September was a good month for books and reading for me! I wound up receiving two paperback copies of ARCs that I was really excited about (one of which was The Wife Between Us, which I am waiting to post a full review for until it is closer to the publication date), which threw my schedule off a bit, but you know. Books! So you make it work. It was also a great variety for me: a mix of ARCs and back list books, and genres ranging from young adult to adult, and contemporary to suspenseful thrillers.

Without further ado, let’s just get into it!

August Reading Wrap Up

August Reading Wrap Up

My August reading was somewhat erratic. I had a bit of a book hangover after reading Win, which was made worse by my bemoaning the fact of having to wait for the next book in The Atlantis Grail series to be written. Then I was approved for two additional ARCs that I wanted to read and review earlier rather than later. And finally, I completed an ARC and wrote a review before discovering its publication date was being pushed back! In the end, there were eight books that I reviewed on the blog this month.

July Reading Wrap Up

July Reading Wrap Up

July was a great month for reading and new releases! I managed to get ahead of my planned out schedule to give myself time to reread Qualify and Compete before starting the newly released Win, which I am super excited for! And everything I read this month I rated at least a three, and actually had two five star reads! *insert mike drop here*

So let’s see the list know, shall we?

June Reading Wrap Up

June Reading Wrap Up

June was a great reading month for me! My streak of reading an average of two books a week continues, which was easier this month when the craziness that was May came to an end. With a blend of ARCs, backlist books, a book versus movie, and even a little something outside of my regular reading, this was quite the combination of books! To top it off, more than 50% of them were four stars reads for me.

Without further ado, let’s see the list!

May Reading Wrap Up

May Reading Wrap Up

So my May reading didn’t exactly go as I anticipated. It started out on track, but then one ARC I had came out earlier than I thought it would, and I was surprised by another ARC from an author (not that I’m complaining!), and you know, life. Since I try to prioritize all the advance copies I get as much as possible, a few of my just for fun books got pushed back to June. Then a friend of a friend recommended a book so highly that they lent it to me, and I couldn’t very well put that off until the end of my list!

Without further ado, let’s just get into it!

April Reading Wrap Up

April Reading Wrap Up

When I first forayed into book blogging back in November of 2015, my original goal was to post a book review twice a month. Ha! That’s so funny to think of now, since in a rapidly accelerating cycle, the more I reviewed, the more and faster I read, which just led to more reviews, and so on. This past month I read and reviewed two books each week!

So, because I love lists and since I’ve seen many other book bloggers doing monthly recaps, I’ve decided to start doing so myself. Let’s just get into it, shall we?
