November Reading Wrap Up

November 2019 Reading Wrap UpHappy Thanksgiving!

November was a bit of a blur for me as a flurry of colds hit our household and just doing the necessary daily chores was all I could think about some days. I am glad that bout of sickness has passed and hoping it doesn’t come our way again this season!

In bookish news, I read a handful of books this month. They were a good mix of backlist books and advance copies I was excited for. I enjoyed them all and more than half got a four out of five rating!

October Reading Wrap Up

October 2019 Reading Wrap UpOctober finally brought fall weather in my neighborhood and I was so ready for the colorful leaves and the chance to start cozying up in layers again. I’ve also started to find a new routine, which has helped me figure out pockets of time that work best for reading.

As far as the books I read this month, most were fairly middling. In my effort to read more backlist books that I got as deals for my nook, I did start several books that I didn’t finish. But I did read two new books that were above average, and one wound up being a new favorite!

September Reading Wrap Up

September 2019 Reading Wrap UpSeptember flew by in such a blur! My husband and I were blessed with a baby who manages to sleep in two long chunks at nighttime at only a few weeks old (he takes after his mom!) but even with getting more sleep than expected, life with a newborn is definitely a whirlwind.

With that, I wasn’t sure how much reading I’d actually get to but was pleasantly surprised to be able to complete a few this month. Using my nook (and nook app on my phone) really helped as I could easily read for just a few minutes at a time wherever I happened to be when I had time to spare. And I found another favorite book of the year!

August Reading Wrap Up

August 2019 Reading Wrap UpAugust was a month of transition for me. Between stopping full time work, prepping for baby, and baby’s final arrival (over a week after my due date!), a lot changed over these 31 days.

With everything going on, I’m not surprised that I wound up reading less than usual. And without a half hour commute to and from work every day, my audiobook consumption was next to nothing – which hasn’t happened for me in quite some time! Overall though, I’m happy with what I read in August. I rated each book at least a three and happened upon one that will definitely make my favorites for the year!

July Reading Wrap Up

July 2019 Reading Wrap UpJuly passed by in a complete blur! A lot of it was spent prepping for baby, and I’ve started slowing down, so it seemingly went by even faster than normal.

That being said, I still managed to complete a good number of books in July. All of them were solid reads and many warranted at least a four out of five rating. All in all, this may not have been the best reading month I’ve ever had but it was pretty satisfying all things considered.

June Reading Wrap Up

June 2019 Reading Wrap UpI have no idea how this works, but June seemed to both drag and fly by at the same time. Does time ever seem to flex that way for you?

That being said, I had a fantastic reading month. I wound up rating every book I read at least a three, and three books hit full marks for me! I don’t think I’ve ever had that happen before. It’s pretty exhilarating to be on a such a kick of great books and I’m just hoping it continues…

May Reading Wrap Up

May 2019 Reading Wrap UpMay was a full month of fun plans and plenty of reading, and it flew by in the blink of an eye!

This was a great month of books for me. I enjoyed a variety of genres, from suspense and thrillers to science fiction and contemporary to historical fiction. With the exception of one book I decided to DNF for now, I wound up rating everything I read at least a three, and two books a full five out of five! You can’t really get much better than that.

April Reading Wrap Up

April Reading Wrap UpApril was overall a great month of reading! I completed nine books, which is more than my average (although I’m not entirely sure how). And the majority of what I read I wound up rating a four. After the March I had, this was more than a few steps up and I’m feeling much better about choosing the right books for me.

I’m also happy to have knocked some backlist books that I’ve owned for a while off my list. As it stands now, I own 171 books that I haven’t yet read and I’d like to get that down to 155 by the end of the year. If I keep up this rate of at least two per month, that should be achievable.

Anyway. Ready to see what I read and reviewed in April?

March Reading Wrap Up

March Reading Wrap UpMarch was a fairly middling month of reading for me. I completed eight books this month (not counting one book I didn’t finish) and most of what I read was average with a rating of a three, with one four star read, and ending strong with a five star read. I’m so glad to have ended March on a high note as I was starting to think I was on a streak of not picking the right books for me. That, combined with the weather finally starting to warm up, has me in a good mood with high hopes for what’s next!

February Reading Wrap Up

February Reading Wrap UpFebruary was a really good month for me overall! For starters, it’s my birthday month and I was able to celebrate with family and friends multiple times. And I read some really good books too!

I started the month out with a bang with a book I devoured and wound up rating a five. Most everything else I read was good to great for me, along with a reread of Harry Potter when I was in need of some comfort listening. I did come across one book that just didn’t keep my interest and wound up not finishing. But I’m trying to get better at putting books down when they don’t work for me, so I’m actually counting that as a win.
